How to Add a Website in Microsoft Edge Compatibility Mode
Overview
Some websites, such as VASS, require Internet Explorer (IE) compatibility mode to function properly in Microsoft Edge. This guide outlines the steps to add VASS to Edge's compatibility mode, setting it for 30 days, and how to re-add it after expiration.
Step 1: Open Edge Settings
Open Microsoft Edge on your computer.
Click on the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
Select Settings from the dropdown menu.
Step 2: Enable Compatibility Mode
In the left sidebar, select Default Browser.
Under the section Internet Explorer compatibility, locate Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode (IE mode).
Click the dropdown menu and select Allow.
Click Restart to apply the changes.
Step 3: Add VASS to Compatibility Mode
After restarting Edge, return to the Settings menu.
Go to Default Browser.
Under Internet Explorer mode pages, click Add.
Enter the URL: https://www.vass.vic.edu.au/login/CoverPage.cfm
Click Add. This will enable compatibility mode for 30 days.
Step 4: Re-Adding After 30 Days
The compatibility setting automatically expires after 30 days. To re-enable:
Open Edge Settings > Default Browser.
Under Internet Explorer mode pages, find the expired entry.
Click Remove next to it.
Follow Step 3 again to re-add the website for another 30 days.
